Lawn chairs, Sleeping bags or blankets to put on the ground for the kids, Towels (at least two (2), Sunscreen, T-Shirts, Shorts or Cover-Ups, Goggles, Swim Suits, Swim Cap, A Tarp or Large Umbrella (if you have one) for Shade, GOOD food and drinks (fruit, Gatorade, water, etc.), Quiet games, cards, small electronic games, (radios and tape players, without headphones are discouraged since they distract the swimmers and officials), Good MANNERS, since we will be guests at another team's pool or hosts at our own
If you want to swim your best, get a good night’s sleep the night prior to the meet and eat breakfast! Something light and not sugary is best. During the meet, it is best to avoid sodas and candy.
When you arrive at a meet, the FIRST thing you must do is check in with the coach (usually 7:15 am unless told otherwise). If you have not checked in with the coach by the assigned time, you will probably be scratched from your events. You must honor the check-in time. Each swimmer will get their event numbers written on their arm by a designated parent. All swimmers will participate in a short warm-up to get used to the water after getting their event numbers, (especially important in an away pool), and to practice starts, finishes and/or turns. Even for the youngest swimmers, it is important that they get wet and swim at least a lap or two.
Remember all meets are on Saturday and usually begin around 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. and end by 3:00 p.m. All swimmers will participate in a short warm-up before the meet to get used to the water, (especially important in an away pool), and to practice starts, finishes and/or turns. Even for the youngest swimmers, it is important that they get wet and swim at least a lap or two. |
